Girl’s Day 2025 in msg life Slovakia: Opening the door to IT
Technology is not just for boys. It’s for everyone who has the desire to discover, create and change the world. The world of IT is no longer exclusively a man’s domain. Despite this, there are still few women in technical fields, often because of persistent stereotypes, fear of unfamiliar surroundings or lack of role models. Girl’s Day is an initiative that is changing that – and we at msg life Slovakia are at it again this year.

In the article you will learn:
📅 On April 24, 2025, we will open our doors to girls at our branches in Bratislava, Žilina and Košice. As part of Girl’s Day 2025, we have prepared a day full of inspiration, practical workshops and real stories of women from our IT world.
This year we have a programme packed with inspiration and technology – from testing, to programming, to data analytics.
Testing as a ticket to IT: Curiosity and logic are more important than programming
Testing is a great start to IT – even for those who don’t know how to code. All you need is logical thinking, attention to detail and a desire to find out why things don’t work. Of course, if you eventually master the basics of programming, it will take you even further – to automated testing, for example.

At Girl’s Day, our testers Danka and Xenia will be discussing this topic and will show you what the job of a tester entails, what a typical day in this role looks like and how to start building a career in technology even without previous IT experience.
Programming: discover the world of code clearly and without fear
Programming is like a new language – first you learn simple phrases, and then you can do great things with them. If you’re drawn to the world of IT, the basics of programming are a great stepping stone – especially if you’re thinking about a career in testing, analytics or software development.
Our programmer Veronika will be discussing this topic at Girl’s Day and will show you that programming is not just for the chosen few. She will introduce you to the basics of coding in a simple and easy to understand way – without fear of the unknown. Veronika will also tell you about her journey into IT, how she got interested in mathematics and how she became a programmer.
You’ll also be able to experience what first contact with code looks like and understand that programming is all about logic, creativity and problem solving – not rote memorisation of commands.
Data analytics as a creative problem-solving tool
Many girls are scared of numbers, but the truth is that analytics and working with data is much more than just Excel spreadsheets. It’s about being able to make sense of data, see connections, and make recommendations that influence real-world decisions.
Sisters Nikola and Veronika, who came to msg life Slovakia through different paths, know about it, but both of them have gradually grown to positions where they play a key role in the field of data analytics and controlling. They have learned to work with tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL and show that even ordinary data can be used to create interesting outputs that influence entire projects.
At Girl’s Day, they’ll show you that numbers don’t have to be the enemy, but rather a creative tool that can be used to do great things.
There’s a place for everyone in IT – when diversity becomes an advantage
The path to IT is varied and doesn’t have to be straightforward at all. Many of our colleagues studied marketing, translation, logistics or completely different fields, but today they work as testers, analysts or developers. Some started through courses, others through curiosity – but they all agree on one thing: there’s a place for everyone in IT.

Why is this important?
If technological solutions are created by only a narrow group of people, they reflect only a limited view of the world. They may harbour gender bias – a gender bias that consciously or unconsciously disadvantages one gender (often women) and narrows the scope for innovation.
Women in IT bring new perspectives, a different way of solving problems and skills such as empathy, creativity and consistency that are extremely important in a technical environment.
At msg life Slovakia , we promote diversity and balance not only in words but also in deeds. We believe that technology is for everyone – regardless of age, gender or previous experience. That’s why we organize events like Girl’s Day. To show girls that the door to IT is open. All you have to do is step out.
