Spring I/O 2024 – a successful conference celebrating the future of development
The Spring I/O developer conference 2024, held in Barcelona, was an opportunity to meet developers who are focused on the Spring platform. In its eleventh year, the event was packed with technical topics, presentations, workshops, live discussions and networking opportunities. The Spring I/O Conference Barcelona 2024 at the state-of-the-art Fira Gran Via exhibition centre once again brought together the global Spring community to share knowledge, explore innovation and celebrate the future of development.

The Spring I/O 2024 conference addressed a very broad range of IT professionals interested in new developments in Spring technology, as well as developers who use Spring. The main theme of the Spring I/O 2024 conference was “The Modern Application of Spring: Creating the Future“. This theme reflected the conference’s focus on the latest trends and innovations in the Sprint ecosystem to help developers build modern, scalable, and resilient applications. Event attendees had the opportunity to attend sessions such as:

What were his impressions? What were your expectations for Spring I/O 2024?
From this conference I expected to get acquainted with new trends in the field of Spring, development for cloud solutions and also about the possibilities of their application in msg life Slovakia.
I was also interested in AI integrations using this framework.
What topic interested you the most at the conference?
Among the most interesting topics that were presented at the conference I consider clearly:
- “New functionality in new versions of Java”,
- “Optimizing application performance in new versions of Java”,
- “How to do an effective code review”,
- “Automatic generation of documentation for asynchronous communication interfaces”,
- “Spring Security Framework Architecture”,
- “AI integration using the Spring AI module”,
- “Platform engineering using Spring boot”.
What new insights did you gain about the Spring platform?
I’ve been working with the Spring platform for several years now and I consider it to be key in developing enterprise applications and systems in Java. I have familiarized myself with the new features that are and will be published in new versions of this framework. I also learned the capabilities and best-practices in code-review, documentation creation and code patterns. I was also interested in the topic of creating modern monolith applications using this framework.
How do you plan to use the knowledge you gained at the conference in your work?
I plan to focus on the architecture of our systems for the subsequent integration of the new technologies I learned about at the conference.
How do you use the Spring platform in your work?
In my job, I use technologies like Spring, and its modules, to design solutions and systems architecture. It is really necessary to be able to navigate the current trends and know where the development in the field of enterprise solutions is heading.
What do you think are the biggest benefits of using Spring?
- A large and open community,
- detailed documentation and examples of how to implement each technology,
- integration of enterprise solutions in Cloud, AI, Batch processing, Performance,
- opensource implementation without the need for large investments,
- a large number of integrations to the latest IT technologies.
Would you recommend attending Spring I/O to other colleagues?
Definitely. This conference is world class and presented by true experts in their fields. Also, the organization of the conference was at a very professional level and I am very glad that I could be part of it.
Spring framework at msg life Slovakia
At msg life Slovakia we develop complex IT solutions for the insurance sector. The Spring framework is one of the key tools for us. The entire standalone application is based on it. We actively use it on our project and also on a large part of the technologies and add-ons. In msg life Slovakia I work exclusively on the msg.Life Factory project, where Spring makes it easier for me to work with new components and integrations.
It also allows me to test the implemented code very easily.
So I was excited to see what new things this framework will bring.
