Job Description

WHAT’S WAITING FOR YOU?

Your work duties and responsibilities include:

Work on innovative AI solutions – design and implementation of solutions based on Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning and Large Language Models (LLM), using models such as Claude or GPT.
Natural Language Processing (NLP) – development and optimization of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector and metadata retrieval, reranking, chunking and prompt engineering with the intention to increase the accuracy of models.
Multimodal models – working with models combining text and image data and their application in the environment of professional insurance software systems.
Fine-tuning and optimization – an opportunity to work with advanced techniques for fine-tuning foundation models, tuning hyperparameters, and evaluating the performance of AI solutions.
Analysis and application of ML in insurance – use of mathematical, statistical and actuarial methods in modelling financial and insurance processes.
Cloud – infrastructure development (IaC: AWS CDK) and integration (AWS SDK), deployment of AI applications and their operation in production (scaling, monitoring, incident management).
Research and collaboration – engaging in research projects, collaborating with universities and research institutions, with the opportunity to bring new ideas and innovative approaches into practice.
Collaboration and communication – participating in a team of experts, sharing know-how, consulting ideas and pushing the boundaries of AI together.

Technologies and tools you may encounter:

Programming languages: Python, SQL, Bash
Frameworks and libraries: tensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain/LlamaIndex, pandas, NumPy
AI and ML areas: machine learning, deep learning, NLP, RAG, LLM (Claude, GPT), multimodal models; vector databases: pgvector (PostgreSQL)
Data analytics: Supervised/Unsupervised Learning, Feature Engineering, Hyperparameter Optimization; visualization (Matplotlib, Plotly)
Cloud & MLOps: AWS (S3, SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, CloudWatch), IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/AWS CDK), Docker, CI/CD (Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins)
Communication and collaboration: Jira, Confluence, Microsoft 365 (including Microsoft Teams)

Requirements for the applicant

WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?

Key skills (MUST HAVE):

university degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field
Hands-on experience with Python, TensorFlow (or PyTorch)
Overview in Data Science, Machine Learning and AI
Solid theoretical foundation – probability theory, distributions and hypothesis testing
Interest in NLP, LLM, RAG and modern AI approaches
Active knowledge of the English language (minimum level B2)
Analytical thinking and the ability to implement your proposals independently, but also in a team

We also appreciate (NICE TO HAVE):

Experience with Deep Learning, LLM fine-tuning or multimodal models
Experience in insurance or financial modelling
Knowledge of the German language
Participation in research projects or collaboration with academia
Natural curiosity, innovative approach and a desire to bring new solutions to practice

WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU?

Salary from 2 600 € gross – the specific salary depends on your experience and will be the result of an agreement

Knowledge and work experience in data science

Using machine learning (ML), deep learning and large language models (LLM) in a professional DevOps environment with Python, as well as training parameters in the context of Hyperparameter Optimization for our models.
Design of new software components based on artificial intelligence in the environment of professional standard insurance software systems.
Development of Knowledge Management systems using LLM and Business Process Support systems based on AI.
Optimization of conventional software development processes using ML and AI.
Work on research projects and collaboration with research institutes.

Successfully completed second-level university education (Master’s degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field of study or specialization.
Working experience with Python, Java, Tensorflow, Supervised Learning.
Experience in data science and machine learning is an advantage.
Solid theoretical foundation, especially in probability theory, distributions and hypothesis testing.
Interest in new technologies and application scenarios.
A structured and analytical way of working as well as a high level of autonomy, responsibility, initiative, decisiveness and team spirit.
English language at an upper-intermediate level.
German language is an advantage.
